Two thirds of our planet is water, but only 2% of that water is drinkable.  60% of the world’s population lives near the coastline, and over 1bn people depend on food from the ocean every day.  Yet we often treat the ocean as it is so “big,” that it cannot fail.  The saying now goes, that the solution to pollution is not dilution.   What does this mean to you and me?  It means that even though we might not touch or see the ocean on a daily basis, we are all reliant on it for its productivity, the air we breath, and the vacations we want to take.   Come learn more about how you can become a better steward for the ocean, and even and ambassador for its health.

3.       海洋划艇项目简介：

l  在李嘉诚基金会的大力支持下，汕头大学计划于2017年初组织学生进行海洋划艇，该活动为汕头大学教育改革项目“高级户外拓展”的新一期活动，项目于2015年10月启动，计划选拔近20名汕大普通本科生，通过为期约1年的训练，最终将于2017年初实施海洋划艇，拟从汕头划至香港，并在沿途开展跟保护海洋相关的科考教育项目。

l  高级户外拓展项目是汕头大学贯彻和推行“全人教育”理念的一大胆尝试。汕头大学提倡人之卓越不仅限于其与时俱进的知识技能，更在于其卓越的人格魅力，而体育精神正是其中的重要组成部分，因此，汕头大学精心创建了名为“高级户外拓展项目”的教育培养项目，利用高原、雪山、极地等独特的自然环境，锤炼学生的体能、精神、意志，挖掘学生的潜能，教会学生敬畏大自然。自2009年开始，汕大学子以行者的姿态，用行走的力量，从香格里拉高原到希夏邦马峰，从雅鲁藏布江大峡谷、可可西里自然保护区到世界的尽头—“南极”，一次次挑战自身的极限，感悟“建立自我，追求无我”的真谛，让学生懂得学习不限在校园，山上是学府，极地亦是学府。

南极之后，新一期的“高级户外拓展项目”将是更具挑战性和教育意义的海洋划艇。学校相信海洋划艇项目将带给汕大师生更具独特的学习体验，学校也希望通过此项活动将海洋划艇引入国内，让更多的人从中受益。
